Over Due Update!

Phew! It's been busy- but here are a few updates on what's happening in Mae Sot these days!!!

1) My Birthday! Highlights included
- Me feeling way too old. Having to say I am in my late 20's is really depressing (not sure 27 counts as mid-20s anymore)
- Birthday party with the people I volunteer with- cake with flowers included as well as tea leaf salad (so delicious). it was a lot of fun!
- Elephants randomly in the night market where we ate that night? Also, the discovery of this exploded catfish salad dish. Basically they take all the meat out of the cat fish, mince it, deep fry it, stuff it back in the catfish and smother it in this spicy tangy salad with fruit and cilantro. DELICIOUS.
- My favorite 10 baht fruit shake lady (about 30 cents) reopened her stand after 2 months of being closed, ON my brithday. She has basically started referring to me as Sapparot (pineapple).
- Karaoke- as well as the discovery that the brothel karaoke place has the song bad romance on their list of options.
- Getting to wear really pretty shirts that my mom and dad mailed for my bday :)
- Eating chocolate, cashew brittle and reading trashy american magazines sent by Joe and the Murrays!
- Getting a Kindle!!! I CAN READ SO MANY ENGLISH BOOKS NOW.

2) Motorbikes: there are a lot of them in Mae Sot, and they terrify me. These are some of the things I have seen riding on motorbikes lately:
- Small dogs in baskets
- A golden retriever (this is strange for many reasons, including the fact that 99% of dogs here are mutts)
- Babies, babies, and more babies. They should at least make baby sized helmets. Or like a baby bubble.
- Entire families of five
- Guys holding ladders. Yes. I was amazed.
- A guy holding a bicycle. Again, amazed.
- Unaccompanied 11 year olds.
- REALLY old ladies.
Things you don't see on motorbikes- ME.

3) weather- its confusing. hot season re-emerged. and now its cold and rainy, even though the rains are supposed to be stopping. Ugh.

In Summary, busy but all is well!!! Looking forward to visiting the states in December!!!
Miss you all and hope you are doing well!
